En Route: Frozin'

Hockey, for better or worse, is still better than your favorite sport, even when it's in collegiate form.  Indeed, it's the sub zero answer to CBS' corporate-sponsored gaggle of non-stop commercials with a little men's basketball mixed in this weekend at Ford Field in Detroit.

But first... Some respect:
  • If you look us, then you'll like this... (Free Darko)
  • A list of (formerly, now probably) one-armed men... (Big League Stew)
  • Think Tiger's commercial is horrifying (and/or pathetic)?  Try some funny then... (Deadspin)
  • And for more information then I'm about to provide below... (Hockey World Blog)

It will be Boston College's 4th trip to finals in the last five years.  That would be even more impressive if they walk away this year with more than one title in those four appearances.  Their opponent?  Them same stinking Badgers that wiped out the Eagles four years ago in Milwaukee.  Wait, they have hockey in Wisconsin?

Apparently they do, and apparently it's no joke either.

In fact, Boston College and Wisconsin not only arrived in the finals with equally impressive victories (7-1 and 8-1, respectively), but they managed to accumulate nearly identical records with the Eagles coming into Saturday's matchup with a record of 28-10-3, and the Badgers 28-10-4 (also ranked 3rd and 2nd, respectively, in the final rankings).  This is the Syracuse-Kentucky matchup that everyone was hoping for, but let's just hope it ends up like the Butler-Duke experience that we all got to take part in.

Oh, and before you dismiss the notion, last year's Frozen Four finale was one of the best games all year, and not just with respect to hockey (or, so says a credible source).  Baseball can wait, all the starters are resting in basketball, and you could use a breather before the Stanley Cup playoffs start, so treat yourself to something special tomorrow night.

Oh, and it's on ESPN, too.  That is unless they decide to simply broadcast a stillshot of the Sex Tiger all night long as ESPN.com has decided to do all day long.  It's good to know that is all is forgiven in Bristol.

Pussies.
