Blogsturbation Monday

Talk about guns like I ain't got none...
What do you think, I sold them all?

Gee, I sure am sorry about that folks, but I was En Route: Adam Sandler in the Wedding Singer post-Wedding Day Disaster'n prior to that little island getaway.  I sure hope Deucey didn't scare you all away with his little magic trick (you know, "rising from the dead") but don't fear little ones, for daddy is home...

So what did I miss?

Eaglecide in Philly.  One can understand the Eagles trading McNabb within the division to the Redskins in the sense that, the Redskins still stink.  Quarterback or not, they still don't have any receivers.  Their passing attack isn't as bad as you might think, but hasn't the midget receiver tandem gotten a little... Oh, how did I put this... WICKED FUCKING OLD?  With their two "best" receivers turning 31 this season (and one already out the door) and their two best running backs are either injury-prone, old, or injury-prone, the Redskins might be the first team to institute the tight end as primary receiver offense with the emergence of Fred Davis and the expected return of the Naked End.  But we all know the problem for the Eagles isn't inter-division pressure, it's the fact that Kevin Kolb is now their full-time quarterback.  Sure, the Eaglets are all set in the passing game, you know, minus a proven quarterback, but how about that running game to bail out a young gun?  McCoy?  Hmmmm... Winner in the deal? Cowboys.  Enjoy that consecutive trip to the playoffs.

Boys and their balls.  And their bases.  Quite a start to the season last night, eh?  But, weren't these two teams supposed to have the best pitching staffs in the league?  Weren't the Red Sox supposed to struggle offensively?  Isn't it supposed to still be chilly in New England?  Whoops.  Regardless, it was a perfect evening mixed with perfect entertainment: a Pedro sighting?  A Diamond on the diamond? A field trip for recovering drug addicts?  How exciting.  Not as exciting as Joe Girardi already mishandling his starting pitchers, but pretty exciting.

Oh, and coming soon, a rather life-threatening baseball-driven social experiment... Wednesday, if I'm still around.

Ps. I'm watching daytime baseball right now... All is right in the world.

Winding Down and Winding Up.  Not much excitement coming out of either hockey or basketball these days as teams consider resting their starters in lieu of set playoff seeds and tee times, but that didn't stop the Celtics and Cavs from giving us a potential second-round preview yesterday afternoon.  Sure, the Celtics blew a 22-point lead in the 4th quarter which was impressive, but not nearly as impressive as Kevin Garnett's cartoonish jawing from the foul line in the final minute.  Cavs sweep in round 2?  Chances are.

More hockey than you could ever desire in the coming week... Just a warning, but come on, we gotta make up for lost time here.

And one more thing.  Go Butler...

Final Sickness coming right...

Now.
