Blogsturbation Monday

First, it was Belichick's decision to go for it on 4th down against the Colts, and since then, the NFL has less and less resembled the rational, conservative world that we are used to, and instead, resembles a free-wheeling video game with a seat-of-the-pants youth at the controls.  Yesterday, NFL teams combined for 34 fouthth-down attempts.  The scary thing is that almost 50% (14) of them were successful. The Saints-Redskins match, the highest scoring and longest affair of the day, featured only one 4th-down attempt.  Which failed, much like Belichick's continued efforts in make-or-break moments.

And allow us a moment to talk about our most favored system in sports: The BCS

After thrashing the Gators, Alabama will be hosting the Longhorns (no, not the Horned Frogs, Deucey) in a seriously legit title game.  There have been lots of complaints this year about college football being too boring, or not compeitive enough, but in the next few weeks we will be served up with several fantastic matchups that should make it all worth it.  Check 'em out:

#4 TCU v. #6 Boise State in the Fiesta Bowl
#3 Cincy v. #5 Florida in the Sugar Bowl... Although, let's face it; Cincy-TCU felt like the better game.
#21 Stanford v. Oklahoma... It appears that both schools will be missing their starting quarterbacks, but still should be a good one.
#20 Arizona v. #22 Nebraska
And never will have I ever been more of an Eagles fan then when BC takes on #24 USC.  Hey, feel free to leave the state once in a while for a bowl game, Trojans.  Pussies...

Update on the Paul Williams-Sergio Martinez fight from Saturday night.  If you missed it, well then, you missed a good one.  The fight went to the distance and was never at a loss for agression or excitement.  Paul Williams ended up taking the decision, but not without some controversy.  It appears that one judge in particular had his mind made up when scoring the fight, coming up with a 119-110 score in the end.  The fight was much closer than this, and could have even been scored in Martinez' favor.  In the end both fighters looked exhausted, but in good shape for the most part.  The first round saw knockdowns from both fighters, with Martinez scoring the more convincing of the two It seems that Williams' perpetual punching motion earned him the win.  Don't miss this dance the next time these two lovers step onto the dancefloor, because a rematch is pretty much guaranteed.

Lastly, a question for the audience:  Is this play dirty?

Happy Monday, jerks.
