Why Olympic Hockey is Better than Your Favorite Sport

Because two dream teams are better than one.

Let's just take a look at the rosters, shall we?

Team Boris:

Malkin (65 points)
Ovechkin (League points leader.. 89)
Kovalchuk (7th most goals)
Datsyuk (Red Wings points leader)
Semin (tied with Malkin for points)
Fedorov (Remember him?)
Kovalev (Perenially awesome)
Yashin (Averaged over 60 points per year in NHL career)

Gonchar (8th in points amongst defenseman)
Markov (Averaging over 50 points per year as a defenseman)
Zubov (See Markov)

Nabokov (3rd best Save %)
Bryzgalov (6 Shutouts, 32 wins)

But unlike Team Russia, the Canucks are rocking an all-NHL squad, that is somehow, even more impressive:

Team Molson:

Crosby (Third in points)
Iginla (Averaging over 90 points the last 3 seasons)
Thornton (NHL assists leader)
Getzlaf (9th in assists)
Heatley (10th in points)
Savard (Averaging 60 assists per year)
Nash (11th in goals)
Lecavalier (Averaging over 40 assists per season)
Staal (Averaging over 80 points last 4 seasons)

Pronger (Arguably, NHL's best defenseman
Green (Leads defenseman in points... 60)
Bouwmeester (3rd in TOI)
Keith (2nd in assists amongst defenseman)
Niedermayer (4th in TOI)

Brodeur (Best goalie ever)
Luongo (Maybe the most consistent goalie in the game)

And the good news is that we will eventually get to see who is the better of these two Dream Teams once the Gold medal round rolls around, because let's not kid ourselves; these are the best two teams ever assembled and everyone else in pretty much fucked as a result.  But at the very least I am willing to drop all the patriotic bullshit medal count non-sense in honor of some pure hockey excellence.
